Multimedia Journalism Major and Secondary Major

The Multimedia Journalism major prepares students to tell meaningful stories across today's digital, broadcast and visual media platforms. Students learn how to gather information, conduct interviews, create compelling content and communicate accurately and ethically with diverse audiences.

Through hands-on coursework, student media and internship opportunities, students build professional skills while choosing a track in Writing and Reporting, Broadcasting or Visual Media. Graduates are prepared for careers in journalism, digital media, content creation, multimedia storytelling and related communication fields.

Writing and Reporting Track

The Writing and Reporting track develops strong reporting, interviewing and storytelling skills for students interested in news, feature writing and digital content creation. Students learn to identify important stories, gather information and produce accurate, engaging content for a variety of audiences and platforms.

Students gain practical experience through reporting projects, internships and student media opportunities, preparing them for careers in journalism, publishing, digital media and professional writing.

Broadcasting Track

The Broadcasting track prepares students to create and deliver stories through video, audio and digital platforms. Students learn how to develop story ideas, conduct interviews, shoot and edit video, write for broadcast audiences and produce multimedia content.

Through hands-on coursework and opportunities with Baylor Student Media, students develop the technical and storytelling skills needed for careers in broadcast journalism, multimedia production and digital media.

Visual Media Track

The Visual Media track focuses on storytelling through photography, videography and multimedia design. Students learn to create powerful visual content using professional equipment and industry-standard software while developing an eye for composition, creativity and visual communication.

Students build a professional portfolio through project-based coursework and real-world experiences, preparing them for careers in visual journalism, photography, videography, multimedia production and content creation.

Refer to Baylor's Undergraduate Catalog for the official degree plan and course requirements.
